Ready to learn

The National Association of Head Teachers has partnered with Family Action to be the president’s charity and throughout the year they will be supporting parents, pupils and teachers to work together to ensure young people get the very best from their time at school.

The theme of the partnership is "school readiness" and preparing your child for the school day has a big impact on educational attainment - so if a child comes to school without having had a good night’s sleep, or if they start the day on an empty stomach, this will have a negative effect on their ability to learn.

School Readiness

Warrington Borough Council is pleased to launch their new school readiness pathway – Ready Steady Go!

The pathway supports the parents and carers of young children from birth so that every child has the basic skills needed to start school and settle in as quickly and smoothly as possible.

This includes increasing the number of children in Warrington at the age of five years reaching a ‘good level of development’, because we know that once a child falls behind in the early years they have little chance of catching up to their peers.

School readiness can mean different things to different people and the new pathway will ensure that parents and carer know where to go to get the help and support they need to get their child to be ‘school ready’. We have developed some online resources for parents/carers and professionals in supporting children to be school ready:
